Also can we get past the whole "Diablo 3 is not dark enough" thing. It's Diablo. It has zombies and death, but it's still an action RPG and to expect heavy thematic elements of despair is just absurd. We're here to kill zombies and anything else that gets in our way, not be scared out of our wits or turn in horror at some sort of ghastly atrocity every few feet.|||I watched just two videos..
WD HD and DH HD...
First..I was fakingly impressed.. it has Diablo feeling.. it has everything what I wanted.. Too bad music is so quite but it's pretty nice.. Okey.. I am not big fan of inventory.. and some voice acting is weird.. but I love what I saw..
Not sure why it's not dark enough ..or why it should be cartoony ..it has blood, zombies, gore, nice ambince, atmosphere ... it's in really really good shape..at least from videos I saw.|||Quote:

Oops, sorry about that, I didn't put it in quotes correctly.|||Quote:
while not cartoony, its certainly not dark
I understand the beta is only the first few levels of the game, but so far I'm not impressed (other than the WD's toads, those are freaking awesome)
I watched each class and so far its, "meh"
then exile yourself to PoE then. Noone here will miss you, really do it.|||Well, not to whine, but...
Generally I like the game - I think the graphics is ok, the music is fine, but I miss the old trait system (I think that if they combined it with the new skill system with slightly limited respecs, it'd be awesome) and the talisman. It's a pitty they're not in the game.
Another thing - dialogues are rather wierd sometimes. Like:
"I like you"
"Why?
"Because I like you"
The things that characters say sometimes don't really tell us anything, but I'm guessing it's a matter of beta not giving away any spoilers.|||The main thing to take away from all of the streamed footage is that it looks, and seems to play, like Diablo should.
The way it looks, and plays, is a huge part of Diablo for me, regardless of concerns over skill trees and non-sensical arguments about the RMAH.
I am reassured by what I have seen.|||Quote:

Keep in mind, that spoilers were cut out of the beta, which probably mean mostly dialogs.|||are these videos dark ?
no
do they have music to set the mood ?
no
but they are MUCH more interesting than anything we've seen so far
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2dpA...eature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2i433...eature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18hMR...eature=related
those videos are fun and exciting
those videos make me want to start playing right now
but the streams we've so far are just boring
its been much more interesting to chat during the streams than to watch them
but if game play was like this, I'd put duct tape over the chat so I wouldn't be distracted and could concentrate on the game
(the only things interesting on the streams so far have been the basement under Adria's hut - just the fact that existed - but nothig special about the bassement itself, the WD's toads, and the vampire bats - which killed the careless monk player in just a couple of hits)
maybe its because its early in the game, maybe because the video quality is so poor, mayber because the players don't seem to play very well, but the streams so far have just been lackluster

you sound like you would fit right in with the Blizzard PR people who decided to exclude this site from press events, dev interviews and BlizzCon tickets just because this site refuses to censor their posts and news coverage of Blizzard and D3|||When you actually get in and play it, the game feels dark and atmospheric. It also feels more like Diablo as you level up and get more abilities and slots to use them.
It certainly feels dark to me, hell one of the first quests you do is help the Blacksmith put down his own wife who has turned. While merciful, I'd hardly call that Saturday morning cartoon kinda stuff.|||The beta content stopped just shy of the beheading cinematic stuff IIRC.
My biggest wonder is how much of 'dark' in terms of that kind of stuff the game will be.
