Blizzard game development principles - Page 9

edit: Completely different thought, you seen those Worgen Mounts? THAT is why we don't trust blizzard anymore.

Worgens racial "mount" is when they go on 4 legs and start running around. They are adding new horses for them only becouse people where whining that horde could have more mounts.|||Quote:

These are both good things.

Well, there's a big, yet subtle, distinction between a company making money and a company mistreating the consumers as much as possible to make money. Both can work rather well for a company in terms of profits, but that doesn't mean both are equally ethical.

I'm always rather shocked that there are people that really believe anything a company does is right if they make a profit. That's so wrong on so many levels. Heck, it isn't even true in classical economics.

Frankly, no one is worried about Blizzard making money. We all know they'd make money on Diablo 3 no matter how it was designed (as far as online/offline and RMAH at least). When they make a game designed to milk as much money out of the consumer, however, by using psychological mechanisms to manipulate them as much as possible rather than maximizing the fun of their game...well, then I think it is fair to be rather critical.

Anyhow, it is pretty clear to me that most major game companies are experimenting with how much they can manipulate customers and milk them of cash bit by bit. This makes games work dramatically differently than they did even 5 years ago. At least there are some developers avoiding this (including a lot of indie developers).|||Quote:

Here's one for you, name one innovation in D3 that was not made to:

1. Make the game easier to approach (and therefore a broader audience)

2. Make Blizz/Acti more money

How cute, the tardcores still think accessibility is the same thing as 'making easy for noobs' |||Quote:

Really great argument, troll kid. Get banned.|||Quote:

waaaat.

The entire purpose of Diablo 3 is to make Blizz/Acti more money, they're a business derp.|||Quote:

I meant directly ... for example, RMAH has a direct financial incentive for blizz, but is all 'innovative'.

Adding a combo system (note: this is merely an example, not actually an 'innovative' thing, so please lay off the picking apart pieces of sentences to try to insult or be purposely ignorant) on the other hand could be "innovative" without being a direct financial incentive.|||Quote:

He already has. And then he makes up another, similar sounding name, continues right where he left off with the exact same post style, gets banned again... I think he's up to over a dozen now. He's also not even attempting to camouflage his trolling and his agenda anymore. Not that it would matter if he did.
