Why? As long as you balance within the skill group role and have a minimal performance standard, it's a very simple matter to make every skill viable.
Cattle.net community's bull**** definition of viable = best not withstanding.
Not so BS when you realize that using one skill means not using any other skills, combined with D2 having huge gaps of power between builds such that a few things are head and shoulders over everything else.|||Quote:
D2 != D3.
I've got so many witchdoctor builds in mind... but I think I'm going to be a vomiting toad-mancer!
The first point is true of any game. As for the second, Blizzard has already demonstrated a lack of balancing ability.|||Quote:

by having the most balanced games on the market?
Starcraft is super balanced game, SC2 not so much yet but it's not horrible unbalanced at all. WoW arenas..while many don't agree, there is not more balanced MMORPG on the market right now
Why always think in negative way?|||Quote:

This is about the Diablo series. Kindly focus upon the Diablo series. But if you'd like to bring other games into it, how many attempts did it take to get there, again?
In the Diablo series, you have D2, in which the (Blessed) Hammerdin and the (Psychic) Hammer Assassin are both characters in the same game. In the Diablo series, you have D3, which can't even get stats right, and by their own admission couldn't get skills right, either. After all, their complaint paraphrased was "Players just put all their points in their highest level skill and did that and we didn't like it, we want players using multiple skills." So instead of making it so that multiple, different skills are useful, they just forced auto skills on you, so they can tell you how to play (WoW, one of your examples also does this). That, and other things also clearly announces that D3 will be a one dimensional game, that dimension being item grinding for the RMAH. Otherwise, would it be that hard to make it so that both bosses and enemy groups are meaningful? Because that validates both high damage single target and AoE skills, which in turn provides a reason to not just spam the same skill and that's a very simple example.|||Quote:

The team that made the Diablo series no longer works at Blizzard; and the current Diablo 3 team has demonstrated on, multiple fronts, divergence from Diablo 1/2 design decisions. You are also supplying design choices (autostats, lack of skillpoints) that explicitly make balancing of the game easier as proof that the game is going to be even more imbalanced?
Le sigh, derail complete. Bye!|||Steven Catogen, Diablo 2 skill tree philosophy is flawed even in core concept..skill tree wasn't balanced because it was intended.
Synergies are just band aid to system which can't work properly in modern games...there are just too many variables in so flawed system..that it is not even possible to balance it.
Also, as konfeta said..these people are not here anymore...and it seems that current team at least see flaws in old systems..hopefully ..they will fix it properly.|||Quote:

Doesn't invalidate the D3 points. Which demonstrate they can't get it right, and aren't willing to try, so instead they'll just tell you how to play.|||Quote:
Don't worry. They're only 'incompetent' when it comes to balancing when they do something a player doesn't like.
In reality, D3 is going to be an amazingly balanced game, and I have no doubt they're going to do an impressive job making an exceptional number of builds viable
How many accounts is that now? 15? 20? More than that? I haven't been keeping count. You're making Bad Ash into a whack a mole world champion though.
By the way, your disguise is slipping, making it obvious to more than just me who you are.
