RMAH delays beta? - Page 4

Quote:

what does the staff turnover at blizzard north have to do with the past 4 years ?

what does the merger with activision have to do with the past 4 years ?

both of those happened well before D3 was even announced

Staff turnover and corporate turnover will slow things. If you don't understand why, just trust me.

Remember, the original diii concept was scrapped after significant work had been done.|||I'll take a look on this if beta has been delayed due of the RMAH

Just because we, as fans, don't know how the development time for Diablo III was spent, that doesn't mean that it took as long as it did because of the RMAH. Any guesses we might make about the development schedule would be pure speculation. They're not worth making.

Also, Blizzard has a history of putting a lot of time into development. They test and polish and refine for many years on almost every project. Diablo III doesn't seem to be anything special in that regard.|||Quote:

That's future tense - MM basically admitted that in the quote from this morning.

Pushing down drastic, complex ideas with many moving parts and incredibly high standards for security and compliance (all of which the RMAH is) onto a team by upper management dictate is a great way to extend a development cycle. They basically shot from the hip with the announcement - I doubt any testing or modeling on it happened much before May. But the ATVI suits love any idea that means digital download margins.|||Quote:

well then what feature of the game has caused D3 development to take over 3 years ? (and the 3 1/4 years is just since the game was announced; who knows how much time they spent on the game before then)

the legal, technical and security aspects of a RMAH had to have taken more resources and time than anything else

do you really think it takes this long to make followers ?

or animations for rune skills ?

Iteration developing is biatch ..believe me.. That's why most of the developing studios are not using it...Everything.. I mean almost everything is just taking too much time. So we are not talking about specific areas of development but slow development process overall.|||Quote:

In the case of D3, that's by design.

Would you be in a hurry to cannibalize WoW subs?|||Its been in development since 2005, i thought this was common knowledge?

6 long years in development, over 3 years since the official announcement. This game has been vaporware for years already, its beyond a joke now. What the **** has taken 6 years to create? Answer: Constant Iteration... Basically blizzard have had far to many FAIL ideas over the years & had to redo things. Anyways lesson to all, NEVER FOLLOW BLIZZARD DEVELOPMENT!

I've been following since announcement, what a waste of life. /violin|||Quote:

Only for folks that don't know how to read the "Jul 2004" in sketches like this.

http://diablo.incgamers.com/gallery/...troops/cat/543|||The RMAH was just announced and it's difficult for us to determine exactly how long it's been in development or the sort of resources that have gone into it. The legal aspects would be handled by people not involved with other aspects of the game and shouldn't hold things back much. As far as which coders and other team members are involved on the rest of it, we just can't say.

The RMAH won't even be in the beta though, so I'm not sure how anyone could conclude that it is a reason for a delay in the beta.|||There is no delay in the beta. We are still in Q3.
